This article highlights some points of the privacy policy of Facebook. The idea is simply to inform the reader, user or not this social network, and illustrate the very functioning of the social Web.
For the preparation of a course on using Web 2.0 tools by women and politicians (training Being an elected 2.0 and manage their email reputation on the Internet ) that I give at the end of January to elect (e) s of local communities, I am interested in the Privacy Policy of Facebook (you know, the document you never read when you subscribe to an online service ...).
This document is available from the homepage of Facebook and before the opening of the account (unlike certain other documents Facebook ... yet mentioned in this document), it can not be blamed for this service hide his future member how personal data will be used by the most famous of social networks.
Reading this document reveals, however, some nuggets that show how the personal data elements on which each new subscriber actually loses control. Why? Simply because the very nature of web service office is to use your personal information to help you know in order to offer services that match your needs.
In the case of Facebook, this knowledge allows him to help you expand your circle of "friends". However, to achieve its goals of socialization, Facebook does not simply follow your behavior within its service. It will also analyze your behavior on other websites and vice versa allow outside sites use information from your profile.
The real information (revelation for some I think) revealed by the paper Privacy in Facebook is good one: when you register on Facebook, the service will track your activities within the Facebook ... but also on the Web .
As a bonus
it is written at the end of the document: "By using Facebook, you agree that your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States."
If you do not have the patience to read this document for yourself but you want to check my connection, I invite you to read below for exact quotes taken from the document Privacy Policy Facebook dated December 9, 2009.
