Real Time Web
The "Real Time Web" is the trend of 2009 in the United States. He is generally symbolized by the service Twitter , but it's actually a broader concept. Web analysts usually live in the range box Web Squared (Web squared), not in the Web 3.0 ( Semantic Web ).
1) Web Squared
The various recent innovations in the web represent a shift enough to stop talking about Web 2.0 but they do not constitute a break asking to be illustrated by a new version number. Web Squared marks a transition.
Here is the list of innovations website with a short description for each:
- Data implied (implicit data): information overload on the Web is a criticism often heard in relation to the time available each day. It is justified if the processing of data is done manually. However, tools and software are now able to score a data with a metadata thus allowing automatic processing. The example of digital (data) to which the device automatically adds information on the type of device, date and GPS location (metadata) illustrates the operation and the value of this innovation. Indeed, this metadata to search engines will automatically sort the photos posted on the Web according to a search parameter as the site for example. Another application example of metadata is the visualization of trends on a map (example: all photos taken in Europe by a particular device). Moreover, the systems self-learners are then used to cross this metadata with other parameters such as: recognize a person's face in photographs taken in Paris on this date.
- Shadow information (hidden information): all data (an object, person, document, place ...) is linked with other data. If you take a picture of such a person or place, the image created is something that is actually attached to all data (other pictures, articles ...) about that person or place. With appropriate software and a data access via the Web, such information "hidden" may appear and be so used ( augmented reality applications using this principle).
- Real Time Web (Web Real Time): the "Real Time Web" is all the information sent over the Web by people instantly and public. This information is - both in real time - sent to a group of recipients, published on the Web and analyzed by software of information processing. The service best known in this area is the microblogging service Twitter , which allows everyone to broadcast on the Web short messages. The consequences of this definition are the "Real Time Web" creates both a new form of communication (exchange instant, accurate and public) but also a new way to analyze social trends (the ability to aggregate all this information public analysis by human and software).
- Data Ecosystems (interlinked databases): in this web of data, adding value will come from the interconnection of databases allowing access transverse to all areas related to a given. For example, the word Paris, we could attach both the geographic, cultural, historical data that film, tourism, etc.. Each data becomes a gateway to several databases.

2) Setting the Real Time Web
Services' Web Real Time "in 2009 were the United States a wave so strong that social networks had been before with the iconic Facebook .
» ( discours du président Barack Obama, le 16/11/09 en Chine ). Today is the service Twitter (and soon Google Wave ) which is on everyone's lips including U.S. President Barack Obama who said during his trip in China: "So I'ma big supporter of not restricting Internet use, Internet access, other, information technologies like Twitter. "( speech by President Barack Obama, China on 16/11/09 ).
If there is no "official" definition of "Real Time Web", we can nevertheless give the following definition:
The "Real-time web" is all the information sent over the Web by people instantly and public.
This information is - both in real time - sent to a group of recipients, published on the Web and analyzed by software of information processing.
They are sent through services like Twitter which enables anyone to publish on the web short messages.
The consequences of this definition are the "Real Time Web" creates both a new form of communication (exchange instant, accurate and public) but also a new way to analyze social trends (the ability to aggregate all this information public analysis by human and software). [ Pierre Guillou ( Ideose ), 01/12/09]
3) The services of the iconic "Real-time Web '
The first public service of "Real Time Web" was FriendFeed today bought by Facebook.
Twitter is the service that popularized services "Real Time Web" and who created this (r) evolution. The service is the ability to send short messages of 140 characters. Your messages are sent from your Twitter account (or via a mobile or via a compatible player) to those who are registered to your Twitter account (your followers) but they are also published on the website Twitter, so the Web. By default, they are available to everyone.
Twitter allows (free to date) services to connect all its features and its databases via the Twitter API , it spawned the creation of a multitude of Web services based on Twitter and services trending . So, Twitter is not just a new form of communication and a service platform, it is also a source of instant knowledge of social trends.

4) The consequences of "Real Time Web" on existing services
Facebook and Google have already incorporated the "Real-time Web" in their operations:
- Facebook integration with technology FriendFeed ,
- Google with both a much faster integration of new information in its Web search results but with the upcoming launch of its new service Google Wave ,
- Delicious is a popular site for sharing links has upgraded its technology to reflect the information published Web in real time.
