The importance of intelligible content
Imagine a web content visible and usable by all users whatever their abilities, but understood by none.
Web content can be considered accessible?
Of course not.
The interpretability of Web content can be as big an obstacle to access to content that are more technical issues.
Understanding Web content expands the usability issues.
Usability has become a topic of interest in the late nineties and early 21st century.
It is still a topic of discussion, but it ceased to be a hot topic for just a topic of discussion among developers of Web sites.
Web accessibility has never been subject to a "fashionable", but the interest is that he has continued to increase over time.
Unfortunately, too many people still separate the two disciplines (usability and web accessibility).
Trying to classify the principles in separate classes of usability and web accessibility would be useless.
There is too much overlap between the two.
After all, a site not in use could be considered as a site accessible?
No, if accessibility makes sense.
Simplicity of language
Most web content contain information provided by the language. The language should be as understandable as possible. The phrasing and words should be simple and concise. To what degree of simplicity and brevity? It depends on a number of factors, many of which concern the characteristics of the target audience. Factors such as level of education, subject knowledge, experience, general knowledge, etc.. The authors do not always know exactly the characteristics of their audience, so it's usually best to be cautious in using simple language and explaining to readers the information they might not know. Other factors are related to the content itself, as the level of detail required to understand why the subject is mentioned, etc..

Representations alternative or complementary
Provide alternative or additional representations of information can often increase understanding. The text can be supplemented with illustrations, videos, animations, audio and content to other formats. In fact, for some people with more severe cognitive impairment or those with reading difficulties, these alternative formats may be necessary for understanding. Provide abstracts or summaries of content can also help long-understanding.
The importance of understandable and intuitive features
The functionality of the Web content must be understandable. Users should be able to understand navigation and all forms of interaction. Static Web sites, the interaction may be limited to hyperlinks. In Web content more complex interaction can be very complicated, requiring the user goes through several stages or phases, make decisions during his consultation, he seizes the information, it confirms its applications, etc.. Each feature deserves the attention of developers to give users the best experience possible. If users do not understand any of the features, they may not be able to perform the necessary actions on the website.
Wherever possible, the navigation should be intuitive and consistent throughout the website. Interactive elements such as form controls should be intuitive and clearly labeled. If necessary, users should have access to instruction or counseling. If there are mathematical calculations, such as in the calculation of the cost of a shopping cart, the calculations should be made automatically, or he would give users guidance and tools on how to perform the calculations.
